Special Thanks
No one ever acoomplished anything without the help of others at some point along their journey. People in creative careers know this more than most. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitute to all who support me in this art adventure! In particular, I want to give a huge shout out to two photographer friends; Erin, who photographed my garden, and Krzysztof who photographed me for this website:

Hi, I’m Jenny Goring.
I love nature. Even more, I love flower gardens. I am invigorated by the colors and shapes, soothed by the way the wind gently moves the leaves and centered when I smell the fresh garden air after a rain. I have always felt most calm, most at rest, most secure when surrounded by growing things. My art is a way for me to live in that place of calm and happiness, and to share that feeling with others.
I believe that beauty is good for us!
My artwork highlights the calming effect of nature to lower stress, increase happiness and bring a sense of joy and connection to other people.
I believe that both art and nature have the power to improve people's lives. Surrounding yourself with beauty is good for your soul. I hope my artwork fills a need in people’s lives and brings them joy.
Live, learn and grow!
Growing up in the very moist climate of northwest Pennsylvania I was always surrounded by trees and plants. When I was very young, my family lived in the country, with miles and miles of forest for us to play in. After living in New York City, Long Island, and Washington DC, I moved to suburban Colorado 15 years ago and experienced for the first time what it was like to garden in a very dry climate.
This lack of water is a major concern because the population is rapidly growing here—it’s a great place to live! I see most people using a lot of irrigation water to try to grow what they did back east or in the Pacific northwest. I understand what they are trying to achieve, what they are missing. They are trying to recreate the feeling of calm and comfort they had somewhere else.
Art can fill that void without stressing our semi-arid climate. I want my art to give people the comfort they are seeking. Sometimes I create pictures of koi swimming amongst lily pads or tropical leaves flowing in the wind to remind them of those other places. Other times, I feature arid plants, to teach people that there are other kinds of natural beauty just as gratifying, which do not deplete the very limited resource of water in this climate. By appreciating the things that grow here, we are growing as people.
Being able to make art is a blessing I do not take for granted.
I have always had an aptitude for it. However, I didn’t know how to make it a career. My family encouraged me to do something more practical, and I got a degree in Political Science because I was interested in making the world a better, more peaceful place. My family meant well of course, but I should have followed my heart. I spent decades feeling like a misfit: undervalued and unfulfilled in my work (none of which was really related to my first degree, might I add).
Finally, in my late 30s my husband insisted I go back to college to pursue the life I wanted. I learned how to communicate visually, and how to inject meaning into what I create. While my degree prepared me for a career in Graphic Design, I feel more compelled than ever to use these skills in my artwork.
I am still trying to make the world a better, more peaceful place. I’m just doing it with a different medium and on a more personal level.
