Jenny Goring:
Mixed Media Collage,
Digital Artist, & Illustrator

Jenny Goring, a Westminster, Colorado based artist, creates multi-layered and intricate collage-paintings from a wide array of ephemera and handmade papers.

Her current work centers on the theme of Inner Beauty as she is seeking ways to create portraits of her subjects which focus not on how they look, but who they are on the inside… which she believes is where true beauty lies.

Jenny earned her BFA at the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2012. Her previous degree was a B.S. in International Politics from Penn State in 1994. Her interest has always been in people; improving relationships, uplifting, and empowering individuals, and focusing on the positive. Realizing a career in politics was not her path to this goal, she turned to art to accomplish it.

In the intervening years she experimented with jewelry/metalworking, stained glass, ceramics and more. She has worked as a graphic designer over 15 years, which influences her aesthetic and her process greatly.

Her award-winning collage-paintings have been exhibited in several places around Denver and the Front Range area and in Aspen, Colorado. She has participated in Artist Residencies in Saratoga, Wyoming and Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico.

When she is not working, Jenny enjoys traveling, camping, flower gardening, cooking, and hanging out with her three cats.

Jenny's Multi-Layered Approach to Texture & Meaning

My mixed media collage paintings delve beneath the surface appearance of my subjects to showcase the layered biographies and experiences at work within each of us. Composed of oil paint and repurposed magazines, vintage photos and maps, art paper, botanical illustrations, and other ephemera, the images I construct are both straight-forward and complex. The making of my art, like the subject it hopes to capture, is a work in progress—constantly evolving to invoke greater meanings, incorporate more perspectives, and convey narratives about what it means to be human.
